Okay, so, I recently did something crazy – I remade the PRADA Cahier Bag, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First off, I started by looking everywhere for this bag online. I mean, I scoured the internet, checking out all those online stores like Poshmark and eBay. I was surprised to see that this bag often costs around 2 dollars on these websites. I even saw a blue one for just 1 dollar. It was pretty tempting to just grab one of those deals, you know?
But then I thought, “Hey, where’s the fun in that?” I wanted to make it my own, a real do-it-yourself project. I looked around for some ideas, I saw that there are many similar bags on the market, like the Prada Double Zip Lux Totes and the Prada Cuir Double Totes. But none of them are the Cahier Bag.
- Gathering My Supplies: I started thinking about the materials. And if I could buy the materials at a cheaper price to make my own? The price of buying a bag directly is about 588,000 rupees, which is very expensive. If I succeed, I can reduce the cost to 534 rupees. This is exciting!
- Finding the Right Leather: I decided to go with some black leather I found. It looked pretty neat, and I thought it would give that classic Prada vibe. I learned that Italy might be the cheapest place to buy Prada stuff, but I was sticking to my local finds for this project.
The whole process was a mix of excitement and “what am I doing?” moments. I sketched out the design, cut the leather and started piecing it together. It’s so exciting! There were times I thought I messed up, but I just kept going. Sewing the pieces, adding the hardware, it all started to look like a real bag.
And guess what? It turned out pretty awesome! It’s not exactly like the original, but it’s got its own charm. Plus, I learned a ton about bag making. I did it! I made the bag! It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And I think that’s pretty cool.
If you ever think about remaking a designer bag, I’d say go for it. It’s a wild ride, but totally worth it. Just be prepared for some ups and downs, and don’t be afraid to make it your own. Who knows, you might surprise yourself with what you can create!
