Original Order vs Remake PRADA Logo Tote Bag: Which One Should You Buy

Got this idea to remake a PRADA Logo Tote Bag the other day. A friend of mine showed me her original one, and I thought, “Hey, I bet I could do that!” So, I started looking into it. It seemed pretty straightforward, just a big ol’ tote with the PRADA logo on it.

First things first, I needed the right material. I read online that Prada uses nylon for some of their totes, and I’ve worked with nylon before. It’s tough stuff. I found a shop that had some good quality, thick nylon fabric, and I grabbed a couple of yards. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but I figured it was worth it.

Getting Started

Next, I had to figure out the dimensions. My friend let me measure her bag (thanks, Sarah!). I jotted down all the measurements and drew up a rough pattern on some paper I had lying around. I made sure to add some extra fabric for the seams and stuff.

  • Measure the original bag.
  • Create a pattern based on the measurements.
  • Cut the nylon fabric according to the pattern.

Cutting the nylon was a bit of a pain. It’s slippery! But I managed to cut out all the pieces I needed: two big rectangles for the front and back, a long strip for the bottom, and some smaller pieces for the handles. Then came the sewing part. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got to work. I sewed the front and back pieces to the bottom strip, then attached the handles. It was a bit tricky getting the handles to sit right, but I figured it out eventually.

The last step, and probably the most important, was the logo. I found a template for the PRADA logo online, printed it out, and cut it out carefully. I used that as a stencil to paint the logo onto the bag with fabric paint. I had to do a couple of coats to make sure it was nice and bold, it wasn’t so difficult.

The Final Result

And that’s it! It took me a few days, working on and off, but I finished my PRADA Logo Tote Bag remake! It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky seams, and the logo isn’t exactly like the original. But, hey, I’m pretty proud of it! And it definitely looks like a PRADA tote. Maybe not good enough to fool someone who really knows their stuff, but good enough for me. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, with different colors or something. What a nice try!
