Okay, let’s get started. I saw this PRADA Arqué Leather Mini Shoulder Bag, and I thought, “Man, that’s a classic style.” So, I decided to try and remake it myself. I’m not a pro or anything, but I love getting my hands dirty and trying new things.

First, I needed to get some materials. I found some leather scraps online. It said it was waste from the leather goods sector, so I thought, “Cool, that’s like recycling.” I also ordered some basic tools like needles, thread, and a cutting mat. I didn’t buy a lot of stuff, just the essentials, you know?

Next, I needed a pattern. I couldn’t find an exact one for this bag, so I took apart an old bag that had a similar shape. I made sure to take my time with this part. I carefully took out all the parts to make sure I understand how things were put together. After that, I laid out the pieces on paper and traced the shapes. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point.

Cutting and Sewing

With my pattern ready, I started cutting the leather. This was the most nerve-wracking part! I was so afraid of messing up. I used a sharp cutter and followed my pattern lines slowly. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to cut all the pieces without any major mistakes. I did make a few small mistakes, but not a big deal!

Then came the sewing. This was my first time sewing leather, and let me tell you, it’s tough! I broke a few needles, and my fingers were pretty sore. But I kept at it. I used a simple saddle stitch, which I learned from some online videos. It’s a strong stitch, perfect for leather. I just kept watching and learning from videos, you know, step by step. I did a lot of times to make sure the stitches are good enough and look nice. It’s all about the patience.

Putting It All Together

  • After sewing the main pieces together, it was time to add the hardware.
  • I found some metal rings and a buckle that looked similar to the original bag’s.
  • Attaching them was a bit challenging, but I figured it out. I just use some tools that I have to make sure all the stuff is solid and safe.

Finally, I added the shoulder strap. I made it adjustable, just like the original. I used some extra leather and the buckle I got earlier. It took some trial and error, but I eventually got it right. The size and length, I mean.

The Result

It’s not perfect, and it doesn’t look exactly like the PRADA bag, but I’m pretty proud of it. I made it myself, from scratch! It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s functional, and it has that classic style I was going for. I learned a lot from this project, and I’m excited to try making more things. Maybe next time, I’ll try a different design, or maybe even make my own original design. Who knows? The important thing is that I did it! I will say, it is not an easy work, but definitely worth it!
