So, I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Seamaster Bullhead for a while now. It’s a reissue of the classic 1960s model, and man, it’s got a distinctive look. I decided to pull the trigger and get one.
First, I started doing some research. I noticed a few things right away. There are two types of “Seamaster” text on the dial. One uses the curved “S,” and the other uses a more regular-looking “S.” I was curious about the different types and wondered if it was related to certain years of production. I did a search and found some people mention “coat hanger style S”. I don’t know what it means exactly, but maybe it helps identify the manufacturing year.
Then I started digging into the legitimacy of the piece. You know, with the used watch market being what it is, you gotta be careful. I found a suggestion online: “Call Omega if it’s within the last few years and see if serial # is in their system.” Good point. If I got a modern one, I’d definitely do that. It also mentioned: “Call the jeweler listed on the card and ask if a speedmaster was sold on that date.”
Getting Down to the Details
I focused on the new reissue model, the 2013 one. It’s supposed to have a modern movement inside, the Omega caliber 3113. It’s supposed to be a pretty good movement. I also learned that the watch got its “Bullhead” name from the position of the crown and pushers at the top of the case, making it look like a bull’s head. Clever, right?

- Verify authenticity: I read up on ways to check the serial number and contact Omega or the original seller to make sure it’s legit.

- Understand the design: I finally figured out why they call it the “Bullhead” and I love this unique design!
I also found that there are three different models of this Bullhead. One is black dial, and another is white, the price is different between these two. I am not sure about the rest.
Someone mentioned: “I’ll wind em when I wear them and hopefully extend service intervals or give the few parts that do eventually break (like a mainspring) a longer lease on life. Sure a watch a can be worn 24/7.” I think it’s a good reminder of wearing a mechanical watch.
Finally, I think it’s a great watch to wear. I pulled the trigger and ordered it.
