So, I saw this Patek Philippe Nautilus 7008/1 online and thought, “I want that!” It looked really good, you know, with that rounded octagonal face, just like all those elegant sport watches in the Nautilus collection. I wanted to get my hands on the real thing so I started digging.

First, I went to their official store. Looked all over. They were all out of stock! Can you believe it? Seemed like everybody wanted one. Apparently, these Nautilus watches are a big deal, costing around 100,000 bucks on average. Some are cheaper, like 28,000, but others go way up to 551. Crazy, right?

After checking the flagship store, I browsed a bunch of other places online. One Indonesian site, called Luxehouze or something, said they had authentic Patek Philippe Nautilus watches. They promised 100% original and the best prices. Sounded promising, but still, I was out of luck.

Then, I got this crazy idea: What if I try to remake it myself? I mean, I wouldn’t sell it or anything, just wanted to see if I could do it. The first step was to understand what makes a Patek Philippe a Patek Philippe. I learned that to make sure you have a genuine one, you gotta authenticate it properly. There is a lot of fakes out there.

I started looking into the details of the real watch. Found out about this Calibre 324 S C Automatic movement they use. It’s got 29 jewels, 213 parts, beats at 28,800 vph, and has a power reserve of about 45 hours. Plus, it’s scratch resistant. I figured, getting all those parts to work like that would be the real challenge.

I went to a couple of local watchmakers in my town, and one guy seemed like he knew what he was doing. He helped me take apart some old watches I had, so I could get a feel for how these tiny parts fit together. It was way harder than I thought. Like, seriously, you need the hands of a brain surgeon and the patience of a monk to do this stuff. But it was fun, in a weird way.

Here’s what I did:

• Started by gathering all the info I could on the Nautilus 7008/1.
• Checked online stores for the real deal, but no luck.
• Decided to try and remake it, just for the fun of it.
• Learned about the movement and what makes it special.
• Got help from a local watchmaker to practice with old watches.
