Alright, let’s talk about this here… uh… this Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG thing, from the official flagship store, whatever that means.
First off, these fancy names, they give me a headache. Le Carre? Sounds like some kinda French food to me. But I guess it’s a purse, a real expensive one at that. They say you can buy it online, on some * website. Everything’s online these days, even buying a dang purse. Back in my day, you went to the store, touched it, felt it, made sure it was sturdy enough to hold your stuff. Now, you just look at pictures, and hope for the best, I guess.
They got all sorts of colors, too. I heard tell of a brick color, brown, beige, something like that. Sounds alright, I guess. Not too flashy. Some of them bags, they’re bright red or something, makes you look like a fire hydrant walking down the street. This brick color, though, that seems… sensible.
- They got other bags too: Nolita, Vicky, Cabas Rive Gauche Tote Bag… Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. But folks seem to like ‘em. Especially that Le 5 a 7 Bag, real popular, they say. Don’t know why, looks like a regular purse to me. But what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
- This Le Carre one, though: It’s got that… whatchamacallit… CASSANDRE thing on it. And some kinda fancy stitching, “carr-quilted overstitching,” they call it. Sounds like a lot of fuss for a purse, if you ask me. But I guess that’s what makes it “designer,” huh? All them little details.
They say it’s made of smooth calfskin leather, with more leather inside, and some “antique gold-tone hardware.” Sounds fancy, but I bet it scratches real easy. And made in Italy? Well, I guess that’s supposed to be good, but everything costs a fortune these days. They ship it all over the place, even to Korea, I heard. They got some newfangled lipstick thing there too, Rouge Sur Mesure or somethin’. Folks are crazy about this stuff, spending their hard-earned money on things they don’t really need.
Now, they say this YSL stuff is expensive, real expensive. And why is that, you ask? Well, they say it’s because of the “glamorous appeal,” the “high-end materials,” and the “meticulous craftsmanship.” Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. But I guess people like fancy things. They like to feel special, like they got something better than everyone else. Me? I just need a good, sturdy bag to hold my things. Don’t need no fancy leather or gold-tone hardware.
Yves Saint Laurent, they call the company. Been around since 1961, some fella named Yves and his buddy Pierre started it. Now it’s just Saint Laurent, or YSL for short. Fancy names, fancy bags, fancy prices. It’s all a bit much for me, to be honest.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all these serial numbers and date codes and whatnot. If you bought a bag, you just bought it. Now, they gotta put numbers and codes everywhere, to make sure it’s “authentic,” I guess. I heard tell some Dior bags, they ain’t got no numbers if they’re old. Seems simpler that way, if you ask me.
So, this Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG… Is it worth the money? I don’t know. Probably not for me. But if you got money to burn and you like fancy things, I guess go for it. Just don’t come crying to me when it gets a scratch or you lose it.
Me, I’ll stick to my old canvas bag. It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job done. And that’s all that matters, in the end. Don’t need no fancy labels or high-end materials. Just something that works. That’s the truth of it, plain and simple.
