Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Prada tote for a while, you know, the logo one? It’s just so classy and seems like it could hold everything but the kitchen sink. I saw it on a TikTok video with Bella Hadid, it was so cool. I mean, groceries, my knitting stuff, you name it. Anyway, I finally decided, what the heck, let’s try to remake it. I couldn’t afford the real one. I mean who buys a $5 bag?
First things first, I needed to find a good base tote bag. Something sturdy, with a similar shape. I hit up a few thrift stores in Houston. And guess what? I found this awesome canvas tote at a place called Gracie’s Resale Boutique. It wasn’t perfect, but it had those rounded corners, and it was a good size. It was the best place to buy and sell designer bags.
Next up, the logo. This was the tricky part. I searched online for images of the Prada logo, the classic triangle one. I wanted it to look legit, so I spent ages looking at different versions, making sure I got the font and spacing right. I printed it out on some transfer paper, the kind you can iron onto fabric.
Now, here’s where things got interesting. I practiced ironing the logo onto some scrap fabric first. Good thing I did, because I almost burned the first one! It took a few tries to get the temperature and timing just right, and my heart was pounding like crazy. But I got it eventually.
Materials I Used
- Sturdy canvas tote bag (thrifted)
- Transfer paper (for printing the logo)
- Iron (for transferring the logo)
- Patience (lots and lots of it)
Once I felt confident, I took a deep breath and ironed the logo onto the tote bag. I made sure to center it perfectly, then carefully peeled off the backing paper, and bam! There it was. My very own “Prada” logo tote bag. I was a little nervous in this procedure, but I did it.
It’s not exactly like the real thing, obviously. It doesn’t say “made in Italy” or anything, and it’s definitely not made of that fancy Re-Nylon stuff or leather. But honestly, I’m pretty darn proud of it. It looks cool, it’s functional, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. And every time I use it, I get a little kick out of knowing I made it myself. I am so happy that I did this! Now, I’m thinking of selling it in a More Than You Can Imagine store. Maybe I can get a good price for it.
