So I’ve been wanting a new bag for a while, and I’ve had my eye on the Fendi By The Way Boston Bag. It’s such a classic, elegant shape, and I just love the taupe color. Today I finally took the plunge and tried to get one of my own.
I started by looking around online to see what my options were. There seem to be a lot of different places that sell them, even some vintage and pre-owned ones. Prices seem to range from around $500 to over $1000 depending on the condition and whether it’s new or not. I saw some used ones for around $620, $753, and $999. I even found some with cool designs, like one with crystals for $753 and a gold one for $999! I knew the bag came in different sizes too, like mini, small, and medium, so I had to decide which one I wanted.
After a bit of browsing, I decided I wanted a large one in the Vitello Dolce leather, in that beautiful taupe color, or “Tortora” as they call it. I read that it’s a really soft, grained calfskin leather. I found one online that said it was in “Dove Grey,” which seemed like the same thing. It had these cute leather strap top handles. Another one I saw had red handles with silver studs – super stylish! There was even one in a color called “Barley” that looked really nice. I looked around at many sellers all over the place. Some of the listings called the color “Cognac, Green.” I learned from the web that the actual Fendi store sells the Selleria Medium version for $2, but that was probably too much for me.
I ended up deciding that I should try to find the exact bag in person so I could see the color and feel the leather for myself. So I hit the shops! I went to a few different stores that carry designer bags.
After some searching, I finally found it! The Fendi Vitello Dolce Large By The Way Boston Bag in Tortora. It was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures. The leather was so soft, and the color was perfect. I tried it on, and it felt great. It was definitely the right size for me.
I ended up getting a used one in great condition for a really good price, much less than a new one. I’m so happy with my new bag! It’s definitely a classic that I’ll be using for years to come.
