Alright, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712 for a while now. It’s a beautiful watch, but the real ones are crazy expensive and super hard to find. I heard that there’s a 7-year waiting list at the official stores, and even then, there’s only like a 1% chance you’ll get one without already spending a ton of money there. Plus, there were rumors flying around that it might even be discontinued soon! So, I decided to go a different route and get a remake.
I started by doing a bunch of research online, looking at different forums and websites. I found out that the 5712 is known for being slim, just like the 5711, but it also has a power reserve indicator, a moon phase display, and a calendar. Pretty cool, huh? I also learned that Patek actually stopped making the rose gold version with the strap in 2024. I guess that makes it even more special!
After digging around for a bit, I stumbled upon this version called the “Patek Philippe PP5712GR Square Diamond Belt V3.” Apparently, it’s the top of the line when it comes to remakes. They even made this special movement for it called the “Cal. 240 PS IRM C LU.” I don’t know much about watch movements, but it sounds fancy, and from what I read, it’s a big deal.
I spent a few days reading reviews and comparing different sellers. It’s always a bit of a gamble buying a remake, you know? But finally, I pulled the trigger and ordered one. The waiting was the hardest part! I was so excited to finally get it.
When the package finally arrived, I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This remake is seriously impressive. It looks just like the real thing, at least to my untrained eye. It’s got a nice weight to it, and all the little details are there. The power reserve indicator, the moon phase, the calendar – everything works perfectly. It felt amazing to put this watch on my wrist.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments. Most people think it’s the real deal! I’m really happy with my purchase. It’s not the same as owning an authentic Patek Philippe, of course, but for a fraction of the price, this remake is a fantastic alternative.
Here’s a quick rundown of my experience:
- Researched the heck out of the original 5712 and various remakes.
- Found the PP5712GR Square Diamond Belt V3, which seemed to be the best option.
- Compared sellers and read tons of reviews.
- Ordered the watch and waited (im)patiently.
- Received the watch and was blown away by the quality.
- Wearing it proudly and enjoying all the compliments!
