Okay, so, I’ve been obsessed with watches lately, you know, the fancy kind. And there’s this one watch, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713, that’s just…wow. It’s like the holy grail for watch guys. But get this, it’s crazy expensive and super hard to get. Like, years on a waiting list type of hard.
So, I thought, “Why not try to remake one myself?” I mean, how hard could it be? Turns out, pretty darn hard. But I was determined.
First, I started digging around for info. I looked everywhere on the internet – forums, watch blogs, anything I could find. I found out that the real 5713 is made of 18K white gold, has a black-blue dial, and is covered in diamonds. I mean, it’s a real beauty.
Then, I started gathering materials. Finding 18K white gold wasn’t easy, let me tell you. And forget about real diamonds, I had to settle for some pretty convincing fakes. The dial was another challenge. I tried to find something that looked similar, but it was tough to match that specific black-blue color.
I spent weeks, maybe even months, just tinkering away. I used some basic tools, nothing fancy. I tried to shape the white gold, I worked with the faux diamonds, and I tried to put the whole thing together.
- Learning about the watch: This was the “easy” part, just a lot of reading and searching.
- Finding materials: This was a real pain. White gold and diamonds, even fake ones, aren’t exactly lying around.
- Actually making the thing: This was the hardest part. I tried so hard to make it like the original, but it was really difficult.
I tried to assemble everything with so much care, and kept doing it and redoing it. Finally, after many attempts, I had something that resembled the Nautilus 5713. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. It didn’t have that same shine, and the details weren’t quite right. But, it was mine. I made it with my own two hands.
It is not like the original, but I learned a lot about watches, and about myself. It was a real challenge, and even though the result is not exactly professional quality, I’m still pretty proud of it. I have succeeded in creating something that looks pretty similar to the watch I see in the official flagship store.
In the end, I am really happy that I tried it. I feel so satisfied every time when I look at this watch. I tried my best to make my own version of a super expensive watch. And I did it! This experience was so fun and satisfying!
