Okay, here’s my sharing about remaking the PRADA Arqué Leather Mini Shoulder Bag, just like the one on the official flagship store.
So, I saw this super chic PRADA Arqué bag online the other day. You know, the mini shoulder one? It’s got these smooth, curved lines that just scream “fancy” but in a cool, modern way. I fell in love, but my wallet definitely did not. So, what’s a girl to do? Try to make one myself, of course! I decided to create my own leather bag.
First, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the bag on the official website. I zoomed in, took screenshots, and really tried to understand how it was put together. It’s kind of like those Re-Nylon things, but this one is all leather, which is what I wanted to work with.
Then came the fun part – gathering materials. I hit up a bunch of local craft stores and online shops. I managed to find some pretty decent leather scraps that were big enough for the project. For the lining, I opted for this durable fabric I found lying around in my sewing box.
Pattern Making
Next up, the pattern. This was probably the trickiest part. I used some large sheets of paper and started sketching out the shapes, referencing the photos I had. Let me tell you, there was a lot of erasing and re-drawing involved. It took a lot of tries but eventually, I had something that resembled the original design.
Cutting and Sewing
With the pattern done, I carefully traced the shapes onto the leather and cut them out. Then, I started sewing. I used my trusty old sewing machine, which has seen better days, but it still gets the job done. Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. It was so satisfying to see the pieces come together!
- First, I sewed the main body of the bag.
- Then, I attached the sides, which was a bit tricky because of the curves.
- After that, I added the lining and the zipper.
- Lastly, I made the shoulder strap and attached it to the bag.
The whole process took me a few days, working on it here and there when I had some free time. There were definitely moments of frustration, like when I accidentally sewed something inside out, or when the needle on my machine broke, but hey, it’s all part of the DIY experience, right?
And guess what? I did it! I actually managed to make a pretty decent replica of the PRADA Arqué bag. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and the leather I used isn’t exactly the same as the original. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, I even took it out to Sellersburg, where I live the other day.
I know it’s not the same as buying the real thing, but there’s something really special about creating something with your own two hands. Plus, I saved a ton of money, which is always a good thing.
