Okay, so I saw this Prada Cleo bag online the other day, and I thought, “I gotta have it!” But the price tag? Ouch. No way was I gonna drop that kind of cash. So, I got this wild idea: Why not try to make my own? How hard can it be? I figured I’d give it a shot and see what happens.
First things first, I needed to get a good look at the real deal. I spent hours, seriously, hours, staring at pictures of the Cleo online. I zoomed in on every detail, every stitch, every curve. I practically memorized the thing. I even checked out some videos on Instagram and Tik Tok, just to get a feel for how it looks in real life.
Next, I had to find some material. Now, Prada uses this fancy brushed leather, which has a nice sheen. I knew I couldn’t get the exact same thing, but I went to a bunch of fabric and leather stores, trying to find something similar. Finally, I found this leather that was pretty close – smooth, but not too shiny. Good enough for my first try, I figured.
Then came the hard part: actually making the bag. I found a basic pattern for a shoulder bag online, and I kind of tweaked it to match the shape of the Cleo. I’m not gonna lie, it was a lot of trial and error. I messed up a few times, had to rip out seams, recut pieces – it was a whole thing. My sewing machine got a real workout, let me tell you.
The inside of the Cleo is lined with this Prada logo nylon stuff. I couldn’t find anything like that, so I just used some plain black fabric I had lying around. It’s not the same, but it does the job. It’s on the inside, anyway, so who’s gonna see it?
Finally, after days of work, I had something that actually resembled a bag! It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. The shape was a little off, the stitching was a bit wonky in places, but you know what? It was mine. I made it with my own two hands. And honestly, it looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
Here’s what I learned:

- Even if it’s not perfect, making something yourself is super satisfying.
Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a fun challenge, and I learned a lot. But next time, I might just save up and buy the real thing. Or maybe I’ll just admire it from afar. Who knows? Either way, I’m pretty proud of my little Cleo-inspired creation.
